'I lost my confidence and found social situations hard': Helen Flanagan details her battle with anxiety after giving birth to daughter Matilda Published: 16:46 GMT, 8 October 2019 | Updated: 17:21 GMT, 8 October 2019 Helen Flanagan has revealed she was stricken with anxiety following the birth of her first child. The 29-year-old actress - who also welcomed 15-month-old girl Delilah with husband Scott Sinclair last year - admitted having daughter Matilda, now four, made her lose "confidence" in herself as she tried to adjust to motherhood. Speaking to Giovanna Fletcher on her Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, she explained: 'So for example with Matilda from always working, running around like mad to then suddenly having Matilda. Opening up: Helen Flanagan has revealed she was stricken with anxiety following the birth of her first child, daughter Matilda 'Even though it was amazing just being this Mum, I kind of became quite in myself and like I got quite bad social anxiety and things like that because I wasn't really going out as much.
She said: 'Hyperemesis - I think it's more mentally that it affects you. I remember feeling like a rubbish Mum because I couldn't change a nappy. Just everything. 'You feel like a rubbish girlfriend or wife because you literally cannot do anything. ' She adds that she is feeling guilty for enjoying a slower pace of life in lockdown and writes: 'Feeling guilty for being glad for the change of routine. House parties and quizzes and cooking classes and skype. 'I feel so 2020 when I wanna feel more '99. Learning it's my family and friends who make me genuinely smile. ' She said: 'Does anyone like me for who I am or WHO I am? Am I enough? F*** it' She goes on to discuss her hopes for future generations and writes: 'For every rainbow sign I feel a little hope for the next generation. 'Here's hoping kids will learn from this how to be a better nation. ' Jade will be keeping busy during lockdown by hosting a brand new MTV cooking show where she will virtually invite drag queens to join her while she cooks dinner. The show, which will run for six episodes, will see world-famous drag queens such as Alyssa Edwards, The Vivienne and Courtney Act.
